Whitman computers are delivered with the following software pre-installed and fully supported by Technology Services:

  • Microsoft Office (current version is Office 2016 for Windows and Macintosh OSX), Includes Word, Excel, Powerpoint
  • Microsoft Endpoint Protection - anti virus and malware protection 
  • IMAP email programs - Microsoft Outlook and Mozilla Thunderbird for Windows computers; OSX Mail and Mozilla Thunderbird for Macintosh computers
  • Web Browsers - Mozilla Firefox (for Mac or Windows), Google Chrome (for Mac or Windows), Safari (for Mac), and Internet Explorer/EDGE (For Windows)
  • Standard support applications such as QuickTime and Acrobat Reader
  • Macs only - Apple iWork and iLife suites (Pages, Numbers, Keynote, Garage Band, iMovie, iPhoto...)

The following specialized software is also used on campus, and may be purchased with departmental funds at excellent academic prices.  Please contact Technology Services for current pricing. Technology Services supports this software, but may not be able to assist you fully with advanced features:

  • Adobe Creative Cloud annual subscription

Adobe Creative Cloud applications are available as a single application or multiple application bundles.  These licenses are renewed every July for a full year.  Subscriptions purchased after July are prorated through the end of the fiscal year.

  • Statistical/Analytical (we have limited site licenses for these applications; some licenses may be available) Not available for administrative purposes:
    SPSS for Windows or Mac (unlimited site license)
    SAS (unlimited site license)
    nVivo (qualitative analysis software, limited licenses)
  • Other (some of these also have available licenses under limited site licensing) Not available for administrative purposes:
    Minitab (limited installations)
    ArcGIS (unlimited site license)
    ChemDoodle(unlimited site license)
    EndNote (unlimited site license)
